Your
FAQ on our Wedding Video Services in the East Midlands
What areas do you
cover?
We are based within the City of Nottingham; therefore we can cover
most of Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Lincolnshire and Leicestershire.
We do aim to keep the main cost of hiring us down to a minimum.
Unfortunately this means we may add a small additional charge
for travelling if the distances are greater than 15 miles from
the centre of Nottingham (£1/mile). We can take bookings
outside these areas but we reserve the right to make an additional
charge for overnight accommodation if we feel this is required
due to travelling distances and timeframe's.
How will the camera-people
be dressed?
Our camerapersons are always dressed in a formal fashion; this
is often a plain shirt & tie / skirt & blouse.
Do you just do weddings?
No, we film all kinds of events from christenings to diamond anniversaries.
If you have a special occasion coming up give us a call.
Do you hold the
necessary licence's to allow the filming of weddings?
Yes, we hold all three MCPS/CCL / PPL licences should the event
require them, This changed to become the European Copyright Licensing
(ECL) back in september 2003. See www.videolicence.co.uk We have
been praised by the MCPS for our understanding of the licensing
laws and our consideration of handling these licences on behalf
of our customers.
Do you hold the
necessary insurances?
Yes, we hold both Professional Indemnity & Public Liability
insurance. Public Liability is required for National Trust venues
as per English Law.
What is Non-Linear
Editing ?
Non-linear editing comprises a number processes :
1, Transferring the digital footage from the camera into a computer.
2, Rendering the footage into a format (Mpeg2) using a hardware
based rendering engine (such as the Matrox RTX100, that is suitable
for broadcasters).
3, Use of software tools (Adobe Premiere Pro, DV Storm) to splice
the footage at the correct points and applying transition effects
& titles.
4, Use of software tools for audio to mix 24 bit quality audio
channels together to form complex polyphonic sound effects and/or
Dolby Surround Sound.
Why do the programmes
we see on Television look much better than what we have seen from
normal video cameras?
If you have seen a film/programme being filmed you will understand
that it is the lighting, and lots of it. The four important factors
are (in order of significance) : Lighting, Optical quality of
Lenses, Rendering of Digital footage, Camera. Even with a standard
mid-range DV camera if you have adequate lighting, coupled with
a broadcast rendering engine you can produce broadcast quality
footage. The same cannot be said by using a Broadcast Camera,
Normal software rendering and low/poor lighting.
Who will film my
wedding ?
We are a husband and wife team qualified in multimedia. We have
been involved in multimedia for a number of years, over a range
of subjects, from my wife being in a band back in 1994, to myself
writing algorithms for Digital Signal Processors (DSP). DSP’s
are those micro-chips within hi-fi’s that perform all the
cool audio effects on your music. We have been involved with filming/editing/production
since 2000, filming friends bands, weddings etc. We combine our
skills to good effect from the artistic to the technical. In any
function we will both be there just to offer our friendly service.
We may call upon other freelance camera operators to assist for
larger functions.
Do we film the bride
from her house in the morning?
We are more than happy to do this, provided the house is not too
far from the church. Bridal preparations make the DVD special
and we are experienced at capturing them. We always allow an hour
so we can film little sequences without being in the way. For
the point of discretion most of the shots are posed and taken
when the bride is comfortable for us to do so.
Do I get to see
the footage before you edit it?
This would be impossible as we take a total of 4-8 hours of continuous
footage. We are experts at selecting all the right pieces of footage
to make up the perfect day. We are Non Linear Editing experts
so we never cut-down any of the key moments like the ceremony
itself, or the speeches etc. In the rare occasion of embarrassing
moments, we would always contact you to ask what we should do
with a piece of footage. Otherwise, we build up around 1-2 hours
of the very best footage and edit them into a beautiful movie.
Can I order more
copies of my video?
Yes, we keep a copy of your final production and you can request
copies from us at any time.
How long until I
can see my finished DVD ?
Your wedding will generally spend approx. 2-3 weeks in our editing
suite, but please allow up to 28 days for high season. Once received,
you have 7 days to advise us of anything you may like to change
or of any niggles. We will then send you a second draft with the
changes, and repeat the process. We will send you up to a total
of three drafts. Once you are happy, we send you the final 3 copies.
The final draft is archived and stored should you want copies
at a later date. It is likely that any changes reported after
you have received the final copies cannot be fixed as the original
footage will have been removed from the editing suite and placed
into storage. It is imperative that you ensure your satisfaction
with the final draft. Changes received after a length of time
equal to 3 months will incur a charge.
Will my DVD be compatible
with all DVD players?
See the VHS or DVD section.
When do I need to
pay?
You pay a non-refundable deposit of £100 at the time of
booking, then a further payment of the remainder 14 days prior
to the wedding. You may post a cheque and request that we post
your DVD to you if you live away from the region.
Can I pay by credit/debit
card?
In order to keep our prices as competitive as they are, this service
is designed to take payments by cheque or cash. We can take payments
by credit or debit card but a surcharge of 2% is payable.
What happens if
I lose/damage my copy?
We store a backup copy of all our weddings at our studio, so replacements
can be made at any time. If you damage your DVD you can order
another copy for just £20, but if you take good care and
follow cleaning instructions carefully, the DVD's should last
a minimum of 25 years. Due to the risk of fire/burglary etc. at
our studio we cannot guarantee that our file copy will be safe
for life. We do advise that you use our re-order facility to get
yourself a safe backup and store it at a relative's house in case
of damage/loss of your own copy.
Can I order extra
copies for my family/friends?
Yes. Additional copies can be ordered at any time.
Have we missed something?

a question, please give us a call
